Day 1 – Killington to David Logan Shelter

Started the trail at 8:00 am. This 12.7 mile section is rugged! Lots of obstacles to navigate with many ups and downs. Scrambled over boulders, crawled under down trees, hopped on rocks over streams, and slid down steep declines. Had a good view of Chittenden Reservoir. Made it to the David Logan shelter about 2 and a half hours later than I had expected. I had a slight limp, evidently I had aggravated a right hip muscle. An enthusiastic young couple arrived a bit later, Lady Slipper and Wanderlost. We had dinner together around a small campfire. I set up my tent, took some Vitamin I, and headed for the land of Winkin, Blinkin and Nod.
