Day 1 – Wheels Up!

Day 1, Mile 373, Miles Today 37, Miles To Date 37
Canada border to Canaan, VT
Great 1st day, sun shining, temp 65, all good! Lee, Tucker and I hiked to the 4th CT Lake, the Source of the CT river next to the Canadian border. The hike was rocky and steep, Lee quite a trooper to take this on with a sore leg. The CT river not navigable in this area except in the CT lakes. Put the kayak in the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st CT lakes for a good day of paddling – road portage in between. Miles today included hiking, paddling and road portage (yellow blazing in trail talk). Will stay in a cabin tonight (pretty cushy), and start the river adventure tomorrow in Canaan, VT, just below the dam. Weather looking to be rainy tomorrow, oh well.
