Lee dropped me off at Canaan below the dam and I headed out on what looked like a mountain steam. The day started cloudy but turned into wind and rain. The river was challenging: quick water, class 1 rapids, strong currents, white caps and lots of rocks to bump into. Ended up at James Benton Campsite cold and wet. Fortunately there were two other guys camping who were canoeing to Kent, Maine (various rivers). They had built a welcome campfire. Headed to my sleeping bag about 7:30 pm.
