Day 3 – Sayonara

Got an early start this morning, it was a chilly night, and left Sunrise Shelter about 6:30 am. I headed down again to Brandon Gap. Unfortunately my hip muscle strain was not getting better, it was worse. At highway 73, I looked at the prospect of climbing Mt Horrid. I knew If I was to keep going, I needed to be 100% fit, and I was less than that. I decided on Plan B. I called Lee and asked her to pick me up. What a trooper, she loaded Tucker in the car and headed to Brandon Gap. Although disappointed, I knew I needed to rest my muscles. The Long Trail is the classic adventure for rugged wilderness hiking. I am more than pleased I gave it a go. Hey, two and a half days of good Long Trail memories, and … maybe more to come.
