Day 4 – Big Reservoir

Day 4, Mile 289, Miles Today 26, Miles To Date 121

Lancaster, NH to Moore Rustic Campground

Got off at 6 am today with a nice ride for the 1st 2 hrs. First portage was Gilman Dam, good entrance but difficult re-launch with steep and rocky area just below dam. Wind came up as I entered Moore Reservoir – 10 miles long, 3,500 acres of choppy water. Had to fight headwinds and whitecaps for over 4 hours. Portage take-out was rough but portage easy with my kayak wheels (good investment). Settled in at Moore Rustic Campsite just below dam. Time for lights out!
