Day 3 – Quiet River

Mile 315, Miles Today 19, Miles To Date 95

Today was mostly sunny – yea! The toughest part was the portage around a breached dam in Guildhall, VT. The takeout was steep and muddy, crossed Highway 102 then down another steep bank below the dam. Took me 3 trips, one for the kayak and two for gear. The kayak is a Kestrel 140 by Current Designs, 14 feet long weighing about 50 lbs . Has 2 storage hatches for gear. Sturdy enough to take a few bumps in rapids and glides well in flat water. Landed at a campground in Landcaster, NH just before a rain storm. The campground is blessed with a bath house – hot shower here I come!
