Burnaps Island Campsite to Wilgus State Park

Day 9 – just passed the halfway point at Sumner Falls. Got an early start with good paddling in the morning. Portage at Sumner Falls. Went under the Cornish-Windsor Bridge, the longest covered bridge in the U.S. Started raining at 10 am, kept paddling for an hour until it was hard to see ahead. Pulled into Wilgus State Park and found I could reserve a lean-to for the night. Supposed to rain and thunder storm all night into tomorrow, glad I’m under cover. The Park Ranger, Eric is an interesting guy, he was mentioned in the book “Two Coots in a Canoe”, a book I’ve read about two fellas canoeing the CT River. River Angel, Eric, gave me a ride to Ascutney for a sandwich at Subway. How cool is that!
