Middlebury Gap

Up early on 10/1, waved goodbye to Bonny & Clyde, and hit the trail at 7am. Fairly long and somewhat steep climb up Worth Mountain. The descent was good trail through the Middlebury Snow Bowl ski resort, then down to Middlebury Gap, Route 125. I needed to hitch a ride back to my car at Brandon Gap. I was extraordinarily lucky to meet a couple in the Middlebury Gap parking area who were headed to the town of Middlebury. They gave me a ride to Route 7. I walked south on Route 7 with my thumb out. The 3rd car that passed me stopped (less than 2 minutes). The fellow that offered me a ride was from Mexico. He was in his late 20’s and spoke broken english. He is a construction worker and works in the US 6 months a year. He not only drove me to Brandon, he took me to Brandon Gap to my car. I insisted he take a nice stipend for his good deed. We shook hands and wished each other well. Great end to a weekend walk in the woods!
